I challenged myself to produce a video promo for a made up product. That is where Union Jack comes in, inspired by my personal passion for coffee. The name comes from my love for British culture. Union Jack encourages a culture of the love of the analog era aka non-digital. Why? Because making coffee by hand is very much a analog feat.
Besides it's culture, what does UJ do? With the companies like Trade Coffee Co. and Atlas Coffee Club who ship coffee to you it felt natural to follow suit. But UJ's edge would be they would work with their customers to curate a coffee blend and roast level to fit their taste. As well as shipping it to them on the customers choosen plan. UJ would do all this while dressing in analog clothing (printed, tactile, has texture)
Coffee making is about making something with your hands. So with that in mind I look to other analog methods I could use as a art direction for the packaging. I opted to have the packaging to have a slight crude "matchbox" style printing texture.
For the promo video I needed a graphic prop that the main character would interact with and prompt him to order from Union Jack. A printed advertisement that looked like traveled from the 1980s was the answer; it also followed the callback to the analog age.
Union Jack Presents: Coffee Conundrum
I challenged myself to produce a funny promo video that would live on the companies' website. I photographed the video and used Filmstro to score the video. Motion graphics were also designed by me.
